In the pharmaceutical industry, 1,3-benzodioxole is an important intermediate in the synthesis of cardiovascular drugs L-methyldopa and sulfonamides anti-inflammatory drug pyrazoline sulfonamide. In the pesticide industry, it can be used to synthesize low toxicity insecticides.
